wow. Not sure if this is doable.
1. bought a mac mini 2.5 (mid-2011) last year.
2 bought a apple tv this year.
found out i could use airplay with it. cool! (upgraded the mini to mountain lion)
removed my mac cube from my apple ADC-dvi 22" clear display. it works perfect, so why not?
Grabbed mac mini with the HDMI - DVI plug and fired it up. -nothing-
Even switched to an EXTRA power module that plugs into the monitor. (it is the cubes power supply) nothing
3. grabbed my macbook and "shared screen" with the mac mini.
So, it says the mini is hooked up to an Apple Display monitor in the top bar, but the monitor doesn't fire. it also shows up under "about this mac".
if i push the power button on the monitor, the light blinks for a moment, then goes out. no burning, smelly event here, just doesn't stay on. i retested it and it works with the cube and macbook (in clamshell mode.)
Reset the PRAM. nothing
So, i am guessing the "hdmi-dvi connector" doesn't work, so i had a spare. same results.
So, guess how i watch tv through the mini? yup. i control the web browser, on my couch, with my laptop. so weird. in my office, my 22" display baffles me. its like, a screen, inside a screen, inside a tv. lol.
Thoughts? Prayers? Ideas? :p
