Alien Anthology, Serenity and The Bourne Supremacy

My shiny new box set of the Alien Anthology on Blu Ray arrived the other day. Of course, the first thing I did was fling "Alien" into my BD drive to rip it to my Mac. This went fine, but I got the dreaded "No Valid Source Found" message in Handbrake.

I'm getting a little irritated. Currently I have three movies that all show the same error in HB: Alien, Serenity and The Bourne Supremacy.

I'm ripping Aliens right now, so I'll post if I get the same error. But The Bourne Identity loaded into HB without any trouble, so I do not know why there is a problem with these movies.

Any ideas?

Using a registered copy of Make MKV 1.6.3 to rip and HB 0.9.5 to encode.

I found I had to remove the extra audio tracks for other language support to get A-Team to work and I was getting the same error.

I used makemkv to remux it.

So, I have to re-rip it with Make MKV, but remove unnecessary audio tracks? Or is there a way without re-ripping?

FTR, Aliens is the same - not a valid source. Oh, and I had no trouble ripping / encoding A-Team. Weird.

i didnt re-rip it, i was able to deselect the audio tracks and then remux. took maybe 20-30 min

I've ripped all of those on Blu Ray and have had no problems.

Feed into MakeMKV - deselect everything but the main title. Inside the main title, deselect everything but the audio track(s) you want. Make sure to deselect any extra audio and especially subtitles.

Feed into Handbrake and enjoy.

Note: I'm playing everything on AppleTV. I haven't had the source not valid or whatever that error is in months. I'm also on Handbrake 0.95

That did the trick!

I never realised that there were so many tracks there, none of which I need (just English audio). I unchecked all the unnecessary tracks, and the ripped file loaded into HB (haven't done Serenity yet, but Alien, Aliens and Bourne Supremacy all loaded wihtout a hitch).

Have now ripped and encoded the entire Alien Anthology, and it looks fabulous on my 55" LCD!! For example, I never realised (having never seen Alien in the theatre) that the suits of the three characters who walk to the derelict ship are different colours!
