Hey guys, since I'm too lazy to boot over to Windows, I tested Alien Swarm via CrossOver Games 9 and it works! perfectly, no glitches, I ran it on native resolution, low settings and it was pretty awesome. Played co-op with a couple of my PC buddies for a couple hours did not see any problems.

FYI: Alien Swarm is FREE to download on steam. Uses the source engine, reminds me of a cheap L4D shooter. Pretty sweet nonetheless.

Oh yeah. using net_graph 1, I averaged maybe 25fps, ranging 18-30 FPS, but you do not feel the slowdown at all. 320m here

hey, i have a mac and i've never used steam before. I just downloaded steam for mac, and I tried downloading Alien Swarm. However, it said it's not available on my platform. Could you tell me step by step how you managed to play the game on a mac?

I got Alien Swarm on Mac via CrossOver games.. Crossover games kind of emulates a Windows environment, using X11 which is included on the Install disc of 10.5/10.6 etc. It's faster than parallels/VM Ware though. Basically you install a windows version of steam through Crossover games (it's automated via CXG as well) and you can just download Alien Swarm through the Windows version of steam that CXG uses. You don't use the native Steam version for Mac OSX.

You can still click the link and just choose crossover games...lol. Or just google "crossover games" it's by codeweavers. D/l the trial, have it install, set up X11 if you don't already have it installed (default installed) and do a application setup for steam and it will be automated for you. Then log into steam and download alienswarm from the store page within steam.

thanks for the info, but since you downloaded the trial version i guess you can only play for a couple of days... which sucks. Buying crossover games would be same as buying Alien Swarm in a sense, I guess..
