so I’ve bought some iPad lemons when it comes to iPads via other retailers. I should know this answer but am curious if anyone knows if an iPad from Costco or Best Buy would be any different than the Apple store?
I’m thinking of buying a 10.5” for $550 at Costco or price matching target... but in the past both companies TVs were less quality parts than other retailers.
To anyone’s knowledge, is Apple an exception when it comes QC consistency across all retailers?
Thanks. :)

I hope they are the same thing, if I can get one for $550 at Costco or Target where the build quality is the same as if I bought it from Apple, I’ll be happy... ***well if this one isn’t defective, (crossing fingers)
I sold all my iPads to buy this one and have funds ready for June (or March) for the next series. I’ll give this one as a gift when that happens.

I worry about how the stores handle their inventory. If someone is in the back playing hockey with the iPad before bringing it to the register.

I would either go to Target or Best Buy and have them price match from MicroCenter which has theirs for $499. I remember seeing Target And Best Buy getting the iPads in stock around the holidays. If they haven't moved those then you are probably looking at a second batch of iPads.

I went with Apple because I like their bags lol. But if I had to chose I would go with Target or Best Buy and price match it.

All the iPads come from the same place and are manufactured the same way. What store they are eventually shipped to for sale is completely irrelevant.

Thanks my Best Buy won’t match Microcenter as I don’t have one in my location. I’m sure Target will be the same.

I've used B&H Photo at Best Buy, I thought Microcenter would be the same. I checked their site and it wasn't listed sorry.

Yeah try Target cause that's a good price.

I was able to go through Best Buy, my only worry is the QC on this guy... I haven’t opened it yet but the darn home buttons on some iPads I bought before are loose, they’ve also had scratches and lcd hardware problems. I wish Apple would up their QC to how it was years ago.
Anyway, sorry for the rant. lol

Not serious?

Very serious. I went through about 6 10.5 Pros before I found a good one. All of the DLX models had a loose power button and perfect screens. The DM models had no build issues but awful uneven yellow screens. I lucked out with my last try. It was a DM and it had a perfect screen so it was a keeper!

I’ve usually had luck with the DLX models, aren’t the DMP all lower storage models though?

I doubt any of those brands are using different hardware/parts. Costco gets products from the manufacturer so they should be the same and on top of that, Costco gives you a better warranty than you will get from any place else.

QC should be the same, and Costco probably has the most lenient return policy. So just buy one from Costco, and exchange it if it was a lemon.

So far (knock on wood) I never had lemon iPads. I did have to return an iPod nano several times, and the iPhone 5 that self scuff inside its box. Other than those two, I've been quite lucky on my Apple purchases (or I'm not as picky I guess).
