As this is one of the most important apps for me on my phone I wanted to make a separate thread to discuss all Calendar app changes in iOS 18 and where there is room for improvement.

First up, the month view has had a major overhaul:

You can now choose Compact, which is the old view but with coloured dots this time:

Or choose Stacked, which basically shows coloured lines / placeholders:

Or the much awaited Details, which shows the actual event descriptions:

And obviously the List is also still available:

A very handy cool hidden little feature is that pinch-to-zooming the month view will actually give you the ability to create a 4 week, 3 week or even 2 week view:

Also the Day view looks a little bit different, but not much seems to be functionally changed (I would love for it to be possible to scroll to the next day by scrolling past 12 o'clock midnight, instead of using the day ticker on top):

It's also now possible to add Reminders directly from the New button:

Also editing a Reminder will give you the actual Reminders editing screen directly in the Calendar app:

And obviously closing a Reminder is possible directly in the Calendars app:

I think this is a really great update to the Calendars app! Only thing I would want is infinite vertical scrolling in the Day view and not stopping at midnight. Seems like a small update, I will keep hope :)

If anyone finds any other changes in B1 or upcoming Betas, feel free to post them here!

Thanks to Brandon Butch for his great YouTube explainer (and 120+ more iOS18 features):

EDIT: Thanks to @pohsyb and @coffeeplease for another one, a 2-day view, definitely my new favourite as it shows in detail everything of today and what is coming up the next day.

There is also a simple form of natural language input:

Still no natural language input?

I should say I only just learned you can actually use natural language input in spotlight. Because obviously.

Thanks for this!

I really wish they had updated the widgets... I really like the widget that shows month view alongside your list of upcoming events. I had to install fantastical just for this widget, but would rather just use the calendar app.

I think it's partially there:

I haven't seen any, but maybe they have. Could someone with iOS 18 check to see if there are any new widgets?

Yeah I have iOS 18 I'm saying that I'm disappointed they didn't any new widgets.

Excellent post!

Is there still a list view? If so, how do tasks show? Are they grouped at the end of a day or throughout that day's events?

You forgot to show the 2-day mode. Tap the button that used to toggle list view has a third option now
Is there a 2-day mode? Could you show a screenshot please, I’m very curious to see it.

Can anyone confirm pls if reminders finally sync between mac and phone? Right now, if you complete a task or delay it on one device it doesn't cut across to the other device. Especially if you bulk delay on the mac.

Really wish Apple allowed us to view the subtasks of a reminder in Calendar instead of having to actually open Reminders.

Oh wow! I love this. Definitely my favourite view of all of them. Can’t wait to use it, as what I’m missing in the regular day view is seeing what comes the next day and this completely solves that.

I have to say that the Calendar app changes are so big, it’s basically a new app. Especially after so many years of neglect.
