All I can get is the iBEC

WHY... I AM STEAMING JUST ABOUT NOW. Ive restored and dfud and everything about 5 or 6 times... done it manually and used the ibec,ibss grabber application.... but all i get is iBEC. I have like 11 iBEC files or something. Am I doing something wrong?

To answer a few of your questions. They are both different types of Jailbreak. Both of them will jailbreak your phone on 3.0. You need the iBSS and iBEC file to jailbreak your phone beyond 3.0 if you follow up with the Dev team.

If you go with Purple. Then the ECID/purplera1nyday should work. I would stick with the Dev team.

Now back to your question of finding both the above files. iBSS and iBEC. I had the same issue. When you start the restore in DFU, it creates the iBEC file in the first few seconds. After about 5 seconds, you will see the iBSS file appear for about another 5 seconds. If you don't copy in that short time, the iBSS file WILL get deleted. The first time around I missed the iBSS file and couldn't find a post related to this issue. So I tried again and this time monitored the folder for changes and at every instance of change I copied the folder. I made about 10 copies of folder and in one of them I had both the files.

I would say repeat the process to capture bot the files. Its simple. Put it in Restore/DFU mode and restore. Ensure you back it up first, but I'm sure you know that. Hope this helps.

capturing the temp files

First, erase all the files in the temp folder. This will make it easier to see the new files. Files are at the top of the list, followed by folders, so if you are watching the top of the list (without erasing everything), you will not see the folders. That caused me to fail the first time. I was watching for the folders to appear, but they never showed up.

To make it easy, setup your screen so that all three things are showing.
-The iTunes restore window (so you can see the progress) at the top half, and the
-TEMP and PWNAGE folders at the bottom left and right. This way, you will not need to open new tabs, etc., and can quickly do a copy on one window, and move to the other window and paste the file into it.

I did not see folders with the above names. I captured every folder that showed up. They were called per6.tmp, per7.tmp, per8.tmp Both of the IBEC and IBSS files were in the first file, so just capture every folder that shows up during the restore.

using DFU mode

The above applies to restoring in DFU mode. If you use the regular iTunes restore, you will only see one of the files.

"To do this follow these instructions to put your iPhone into DFU mode.
With your iphone connected to the computer turn it off. Wait for 5 sec after it finishes shutting down. Now hold your iphone pressing the Home button (screen button) with your thumb. Dont release it. Press the Power Button for 10sec then release it but keep holding the Home button for another 10sec. You can release it now.

iTunes will popup a message saying it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode.
Click okay to this message then Hold down the Shift key and click the Restore button


Select the iPhone2,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw file from the Pwnage folder on your desktop and click the Open button.


Your iPhone will now begin restoring to the 3.0 firmware. You will be warned that this will erase your phone. Click the Restore button to continue."
