My experience
I bought my MBP back in march with the printer deal
I got the HP C4580 all in one wireless printer
Works pretty well and am quite happy with it
Recent update makes it compatible with SL
You do need to set it up initially via a usb cable
But
Occasionally does not print - only if wifi network down
Am sure there are now newer models out but have never really had any bad experience with all the HP printers I have had.
But this is only my experience am sure others will also comment

I have an Epson 740 running off of a PBG3. I am very happy with it. It's fast enough for what I want to do, and they made it quieter than the previous generation! If you got the 740i to match your iMac I'm sure that would be a good combo.
I have a Canon Pixma MP620. It is connected to my iMac via usb, however you can connect it via wireless, or put the printer on your home next by cabling it into your router.
When I take my work laptop home (Windows) I can wirelessly print to the the Canon too, however I did need to install the Canon software on my laptop first.
The MP620 uses separate cartridges for each colour, so when one runs out your not wasting other ink colours by replacing the entire multi-coloured cartridge.
The only downside I have experienced is with the set up, the instructions can be a little confusing, and to set up a wireless connection to the printer you first have to connect it (a mac or pc) via USB.

I have a preference for HP printers, they tend to have great mac support and are relatively low maintenance. I have a 2610xi on my network and it works amazingly. A network printer with is great because you can get it off your desk and hide it wherever you want to, and all of your machines can access it simultaneously if you have multiple computers in your home. I wouldn't want it any other way.

Canon MX700 multifunction for me. I've had it for quite a while and it does a good job. Supplies seem to last well. Two paper trays. Ethernet connection. I'm running it off a Time Capsule wireless and it does well. Connect via USB for set-up.
Check out reviews on CNET. I don't know which brand/printer they are recommending these days, but their reviews are usually worth reading.
