I'm just wondering if any of you use mac computers/ipads etc but have a different phone to the iPhone? The one thing winning me over is compatibility between devices but I am really missing android!

Yep I run a retina macbook pro as main machine but would only ever use my galaxy mega / android as it suits my needs more.
Yes. I have a macbook air, ipad and a nexus 5. I love apple quality but I really don't want to be trapped in one ecosystem. And ios on a phone just isn't flexible enough. I don't live inside apps on my phone so the OS really matters to me.
Macbook Pro but soon to be iPhone6 or 6+. I may wait around to see the Nexus 6 but we'll see how long it takes for them to become available. Android is like a pocket PC which for some is a good thing but it doesn't suit me any longer. I don't want to carry a PC in my pocket because I work with them all day. It's refreshing to have a very simple OS to use on the MB especially coming from almost 20 years of windows. I'm not one that needs access to a file system on my phone, I'm out of the customization phase (you can put a launcher on TW, but under the hood it's still TouchWiz), my whole family are on iPhones and iPads, and I'm a bit OCD and like to have all my stuff mesh together. Plus in the near future I would like to get in to app development for iPhone. I have a Samsung Galaxy 10.1 2014 tablet I would like to throw out in the street but my wife got it for me as an anniversary present so I'm kinda stuck with it for the time being. Right now I'm using a Moto X 2013 and it's a great phone but I'm ready to move on.
I use all Mac and Linux based machines for work and then Android for my main phone. As someone else mentioned I mainly avoid the issue of syncing between phone and computer by storing everything in cloud services. I personally like Google's suite of applications for calendar, reminders, and photos so all of that is already on my phone and can all be accessed from any computer with a browser. Is there something particular that you use that can't be transferred from Mac to an Android phone easily?
I'm not too sure. The main things I use are the reminders app, ical, photos, music etc. I think the main one is the photos. I know with photo stream I can share them and they come straight to my mac. Is there something similar with android?
Sure, Google's Photos will automatically upload whatever photos your phone takes once you get on Wi-Fi, then you can access those in the Photos app on your computer. If you want to download them to your computer, its pretty easy to do that manually each time, or you can even write a short script to get your computer to download new Photos from Google and save them to a local file.

Google+, Onedrive, Dropbox, Flickr, all of them automatically syncs every picture and video
I will add that I too use Google services even with my Macbook. Google Calendar, Gmail, and contacts are still in use, but my music I buy through iTunes.

Notes I don't think I've ever used. I have Google Keep and Evernote both on my phone but I don't ever remember using either. Reminders I use Google Calendar or Google Now. Google Now is becoming more and more feature rich by the way.
I have to agree that Google Now is becoming the way to go for reminders. Ever since I got an Android Wear watch over the summer its become easiest to take a note just by using my watch. I've started using it as my go-to reminder method.
Macbook Pros are the only Apple products left here, got rid of ipads, apple tv, Mac Pro etc. Wife even just swapped her new iPhone 6 for an S5 at the store, which shocked me lol, never thought she'd leave the iPhones. Eco system means jack to me since I have everything from home theater streaming, sync'ing blah blah blah setup how "I want". Used to be way Pro Apple, but trying the S2 when it came out converted me to the darkside lol. Still have some iPhones laying around, not sure if I'll just flip them (even have original 3GS still lol) or keep them around.
Will never get rid of Macbook Pros though, 1) I love the build quality vs other laptops, 2) I can run OS/X and Win at the same time in a VM, 3) the trackpad is still tops, 4) Battery life is excellent

I've been using Android with my Macs since I switched over from the original iPhone in 2007. I currently don't have a tablet but have had a few iPads over the years. Current Mac line up is a 2012 mini in the living room that is primarily used as a HTPC and my wife's 2013 MBA.
Edit: Tablet part is no longer true as I just picked up a Nexus 9 on my way home from work.

The key to freedom from ecosystems is not to use any cloud/integration systems they're shoving at us. Always use file system. (Using file system sync services like Dropbox, One Drive, GooDrive is fine, because you can switch from one to another in seconds.) I don't use calendar, contacts, notes, reminders apps - I simply do them in platform-independent way. For example, my notes are simply .txt files in dropbox. My contacts are either empty folders named with contact info, or folders with .txt files if there's lots of info in the contact. Same for reminders and calendar. All of these are in my dropbox and I can switch from platform to platform instantly and painlessly. Sure, I don't get notifications, but I just review my organizer every day and keep things to remember in the RAM between my ears.
I use Android, Windows, iOS on multiple phones and tablets, MacOS and Windows on laptops or any computer if traveling, and my organizer is always with me and looks and behaves the same everywhere, because file systems are essentially ghe same, and .txt files are universal.

though I recently went back to an iPhone after 12 months without, I still rock an android and a windows phone device too.
