All my music not appearing in iPhone?

I have it set up in iTunes that the iPhone will sync and gather all music -- I don't really have that much -- and I thought that this is what was occurring, until this evening when I went to play a song by a particular artist and realized that the song and the artist were both missing from the iPhone, although they are present on my iPod and present in iTunes. I looked more carefully through everything and am wondering if the iPhone in fact is selective and kicks out anything that hasn't been played recently and actually establishes a specific limit of how many MB or GB of music it will accept? If so, that's fine, I can certainly take some time to pull together a playlist of my favorites specifically to ensure that they will show up on the iPhone, but I am surprised at this.....

This is a big "if", BUT...if some of your music as Apple's DRM, you might not be allowed to have it on 2 iPods.

I found what the issue was -- not all of my songs were checkmarked, and therefore when I did the sync with the iPhone they didn't make it into the iPhone. I went through everything and checkmarked all my songs, then again did a sync and that solved the problem. Interesting, because on the iPod it wasn't necessary to have them checkmarked in order for them to be on there.

It has nothing to do with how many iPods you have -- I've got the 5G video iPod (60 GB) and a 4 GB Nano, and there is no problem putting my music on both of those, which I've been doing successfully all the time I've owned them.
