ALL new iPhones come sans lint-free microfiber cloth?

I know it has been well established that the 3GS comes without the lint-free microfiber cloth, apparently due to the oleophobic screen but, today I opened up a brand new iPhone 3G (not 3GS) and it also arrived sans microfiber cloth. What's up with that?
 
I didn't get one with my 3G either. I just assumed they all came the same way.

Cost cutting measure on Apple's part I guess.
 
apple is lame like this

i remember the original ipod comeing with a dock, wall charger, all sorts of goodies and macs with remotes

apple will start offering iphone without headphones soon enough too i bet
 
Soon they're just going to start shipping out empty boxes... the iPhone's themselves will be able to be purchased at the Apple store afterwards for an extra $299.
 
It's so people will look at their 3G iPhones and see how grimy the screen is with all that face grease, therefore making them want the new 3GS and its oleophobic coated screen even more.

Original iPhone came with a dock as well. Of course it wasn't compatible with the 3G that didn't come with one so I had to fork out the extra $35 for that.

At least they reduced the size of that ginormous wall adapter.

My original iPhone had a clothe.. so did my 3G. My 3GS didn't have one.. which is fine, because I've not needed to wipe it once and I've had it for weeks. :cool:

I got one with my original iPhone 3G, AppleCare just replaced my last iPhone 3G with a new, in box, with all accessories iPhone 3G and there is no cloth in this one. It appears as if with the release of the 3GS they completely discontinued the microfiber cloths. They seem to have changed the original iPhone 3G packaging. It now comes preloaded with 3.0, the box is smaller and has 3.0 displayed on the cover, and sans microfiber cloth.

As mentioned in my response to the post above, it appears as if they have changed the boxing and accessories for what I shall dub "iPhone 3G 3.0". The box is the exact same size as the iPhone 3GS. I just checked to make sure.
 
My guess is that with the coating apple is basically saying or implying that the cloth isn't needed. In reality I think it was one small step to improve the profit margins. Its another example of an attempt of addition through subtraction and that's too bad because the 3GS' screen still needs to be cleaned even with the coating.

But it's a 3G, not a 3GS.

Macrofiber cloths

You can get them at Target; cheap
Personally, I use the dusting one that I have at home and carry the small one that came with my glasses as I lost the one that came with phone. Not a big deal. You can get a lot of info by googling or go to Youtube. That is where I found what I needed. Good luck
I just have a hang-up on the phone not looking prisitine:eek:
