So my new apple tv was having a hard time staying in devices on itunes.
I did everything on the support forums to correct this
Restart both machines and router, make sure i had no firewall, change router channel, reinstall itunes, check preference to find it...etc....nothing worked except unplugging it or restoring it....but after 3 hours of non use it would disappear again.

I even synced it to my other computer but it did the same thing.
It was a new unit and i was about to call apple care to see if they have a fix or take it back. So i let it disappear again, and tried the easy stuff of turning it off and on and the preference find apple tv, just to make sure it was the issue i was having before. Neither of those things worked before... and didn't immediately work this time.

I went and got my phone and a drink came back and the apple tv is back.
WTF...ok. So i wait to let it disappear....and it does but its too late to call applecare now.

So the next day i went to call applecare and its back again.
Its been there and hasn't lost its connection to itunes for 2 days now.

For 6 days it wouldn't keep its connection to itunes. but now, all of a sudden it does... How the hell did that happen?

learn to use the itunes preference pane. under apple tv once you upgraded to itunes 7.6.1 delete the old pointer to apple tv. then back to apple tv and set its pointer back to itunes on your mac. ensure you checked apple tv prefs box before hand. its not magic its kinda a clutzy interface with no directions. Kinda like setting up a network.
