So what do you think is a realistic price point for the upcoming Nexus 10 device.

iPad mini - £269
Nexus 7 - £160

iPad 4 - £400
Nexus 10 - £??

What do you guys and gals think in dollars or pounds, think the new Nexus 10 device will start at?

Personally I would love a Nexus 10 at £300. To give you an idea of what that is in dollars, the iPad 3 16GB Wi-Fi refurb from apple is £315 in the UK.

From the leaked tech specs it looks like a great piece of kit. I just hope the build quality is solid.

Random:I did not know that the Nexus 7's single-line speaker actually outputs stereo. Thought it was just one large mono.

Nexus 7, looking sweeter and sweeter.

the worst design i've seen

I don't like the bezel on the current Sammy tablets. I cut them slack because of the Apple lawsuits. They had to change them up to look really different. Now that Sammy has scored some victories in the courts maybe they can go back to doing sleek tablet designs. :)

I was interested in the nexus 10 until I realised third party apps would look like crap in that hd display because most of them are not even optimised for a tablet display.

May be a super tablet, but without apps optimised for that resolution is just worthless I think.

This will begin changing if the Nexus 10 takes off.

Having said that, I have zero interest in the device myself.

So the black bar that has the onscreen buttons that needlessly utilises 8% of my screen real estate is now HD Retina... How fab ;)

Seriously I really don't like on screen buttons and wish the device just had proper discrete capacitive buttons so I can appreciate the screen fully.

It's my only gripe with the nexus devices really be it phone or tablet. To me the black bar ends up drawing all my focus and I end up fixating on it.

As for price I reckon $499 for 32GB putting it toe to toe with the surface and still $100 cheaper than the iPad equivalent.

However they could surprise us with $399 for 32GB though this might be undercutting other manufacturers bottom lines just too much.

As others have said though, I would be more concerned with Android applications being updated to support the retina as many are still not even updated properly to support tablet form factor despite Android tablets being available for a considerable amount of time now.

Leaked nexus 10 rooks the same as the samesung galaxy note with the speakers on the edge of the bezel!

I agree but I am pretty sure you can set those to auto-hide if you want, so that you get a full screen experience. It's a compromise - either have those on screen controls or risk a hardware button that for some iPad users "sticks" or otherwise malfunctions. Once the perfect solution emerges, then everyone will use it.

Unless it gets patented. ;)

The bar disappears when you need the full screen, videos and pics like current devices with on screen buttons.

No way is it priced the same as an iPad! Maybe, it will be $349; $399 tops.;)

Why not? It will be superior to the iPad both in display and power. No reason it shouldnt be priced the same. The Galaxy Note 10.1 with inferior specs is $499. No way the Nexus 10 comes in under $400

Lol, I just love when people use the words "no way", "Impossible", "Never" and more....and then companies do this...

"Google undoubtedly upset the tablet market almost overnight with the Nexus 10: that record-setting 2,560 x 1,600 resolution, Exynos 5 Dual, Android 4.2 and all-important $399 starting price " (from Engadget)

People we really all need to step back from the Apple Kool-Aid and understand that a company does not need to make 30% profit (or more) from its products.

Try 40% and upward. The iPad Mini is expected to rake in at least 58% according to Phone Arena, if not a lot more. The iPhones have been reported to have similar yields of high-50's to high-70's % profits (I forget the exact numbers). But it's pretty similar for most, if not, all their products.

People then point out they need all this to run the customer service and to put into R&D, which I'm sure they do, but then I point out the 100+ billion cash reserved Apple is sitting on. Not to mention Steve Jobs' yacht! https://www.macrumors.com/2012/10/28/steve-jobs-yacht-venus-launched-in-the-netherlands/
