for a live-stream event (NOT Zoom, unfortunately - this a company that uses an alternate platform called Livestorm) I need to somehow enable CHROME to do screen recording.

does anyone know how to do this?? There does NOT seem to be a way to put the CHROME app / icon into the window here. I can't add it with a " + " sign or by dragging.

any ideas?

Grateful for any suggestions or feedback!

HEY! thank you for that.

Here is the thing, I really don't want to do actual screen recording, that's not my "end game," so to speak.

My goal is to screen sharing in LIVESTORM, and to do that, I have to somehow enable CHROME to do screen recording. (I don't understand why, to be honest.)

So using a third party means of doing a screen recording doesn't help me.

I still need to enable CHROME to do screen recording. and I still have no idea!

this is from the LIVESTORM help page, but it doesn't actually help:

thanks again for any feedback!

I say fortunately!
Zoom has multiple privacy lawsuits in progress not to mention a horrible history of bugs ( and a few "not bugs" included intentionally ) to include remote code execution on devices with Zoom client.

Again, I say fortunately.

so I am trying to use LIVESTORM, but it is useless unless I can enable screen share for CHROME - do you have any idea how I can possibly do that??

What outcome are you looking for and why? Maybe we can help with alternative solutions ( like OBS? ). I do not understand why you would need Chrome to record the screen. Why not just QuickTime?

I think I understand: Livestorm is not kicking off the 'share' feature to allow you 'check the box'.
I am sorry, I do not have any experience with Livestorm. I use Jitsi, it allows the presenter or viewer to 'screen record' with a button click.

Could Livestorm only allow the presenter to record a session?

my outcome is to screen share using LIVESTORM

But LIVESTORM's help section says that in order to do that, I first have to enable CHROME to do screen recording.
(I do not understand why, but that is what it says.)

But yes, contacting LIVESTORM's help section (hopefully they have one) directly is a good idea.

thanks for the feedback!

PS: I admit this makes no sense, why do I want to enable screen recording when I don't actually want to do screen recording. this is a very logical question!

hey, in case it helps, here are two screen shots.

The first is what LIVESTORM says should be there, with the option to record on CHROME.

The second is what actually is there, with CHROME not even in the list of apps that it is possible to enable.
