So almost 2 months in an the new Mac mini m1 has been going 24/7 and no issues
What I LOVE is the fact that it doen't choke when using FCPX as was the case with my 2015 MacBook Pro, BIG MISTAKE in getting minimal memory, but I may get an egpu for it at some point as plan to keep it as long as possible
What I'd LOVE to see is full 192khz audio in audio midi setup as I do audio work, but have a work around for that with my Focusrite gear
A digital audio output would be nice like my Macbook so I can run an external dac, but again, the Focusrite gear takes care of most of that
The BIG thing I'd LOVE to see is the option for upgradeable memory. BIG MISTAKE on Apple's part so let's hope someone will come out with an egpu for the mini
It's form factor could easily make it like a laptop with a small monitor and could eventually be used in recordings I do on location although my laptop is still more than adeequate for that but not so for video editing
SO, for those who have the mini m1, how do you like yours?? Mine's a keeper even if an M2 comes out

The fact that the memory is not upgradeable is not a mistake, it’s a feature. Putting the memory in the CPU package reduces latency. Without it they’d have to increase cache size to increase cache hit rate to compensate for cache miss penalty.

Buy the most memory you can afford, is always a good rule of thumb.

Your M1 Mac does not support an egpu.

I love my Mac mini M1. Snappy and powerful for my needs (no video stuff). Much less fan and heat compared to the Intel machines.
