pretty much all online games lag alot on my imac g5 1.8Ghz with 2Gb of RAM even when that is the only thing i am running. This just seems weird because if I use my dad's dell inspiron single core 1.6GHz pentium M with 1GB of RAM it runs fast. Why and is there a way to make it run better?
My connection is pretty fast too. My graphics processor is ATI Radeon 9600 128MB. I am not talking about games like WOW I am talking about flash games.

the lag is slow graphical performance...

Could you please describe the "lag" that you are experiencing more fully? Are you referring to a spotty network connection or slow graphical performance? What games are giving you these issues?

I'm not sure what kind of games you're talking about.

If you main Flash games, then I think that's the problem right there. The Flash player is notorious for being poorly optimized (that is, it's not optimized at all) on the Mac. Worse for you, whatever improvements Adobe has made lately (or will make in the furture) may not help PPC-based macs.

If you're talking about 3D games like WoW, perhaps the graphics processor in your iMac sucks compared to the dell. Also, for a lot of games, the Mac version of the game is not well optimized compared to the Windows version.

If they are flash games, upgrade to Flash 10, I noticed a significant improvement on my PowerPC Macs.

If 3D games, reduce settings, ensure you have plenty of free space on the hard drive, and disable Dashboard.
It may just be the Mac port of the game though, I have tried everything on my PowerMac G5 with upgraded video card and games still don't run smoothly :(
