Hey everyone, I'm planning on getting a laptop for when I go to University this fall and I just have a few questions. The one I'm looking at is the lower end 15 model, BUT with a 160GB 7200 RPM HD upgrade. After looking around the forums it is my impression that there are huge delays in ordering this upgrade. I was going to wait a little bit longer to order this, but if I want to get this at the very latest August, should I go and order now?

Also, I'm planning on geting Windows Vista Ultimate. It seems like the best program to do this with is BootCamp. Off of Tigerdirect.ca (I live in Canada), I'm looking at this copy. This is an OEM version and I'm only putting Vista onto my laptop, not onto any other computers at home. I hope there are no problems with this?

Another factor for me is an external HD. Right now I'm looking at a Fantom Titanium-II because of the FireWire support or a Seagate FreeAgent Desktop. The Fantom drive supports FireWire 400 while the Seagate does not. At the max I don't want to spend more than $150 (Canadian) on an external HD, so Firewire 800 is out of the picture (I think). Is there any advantage of having Firewire 400 over USB 2.0 as the type of files that I will be backing up are mostly documents and video.

Lastly for a mouse I was looking at the Logitech VX Revolution. Has anyone ever used this mouse, and is it good/bad?

Thank you in advance! Also what is the deal with the thermal paste? Is this problem on the new June 5, 2007 revision MBP's?

first you said you wanted to buy a MBPro :D then you said you wanted to install wi$ta  but i will still help you
if you order BTO than it's roulette, shipping can be fast, can be slow, it's a gamble but i guess the big delays are normal in the beggining but as production speeds up, it shouldn't be a problem.
for external HD i use an western digital mybook pro, it has fw400, fw800 and usb2 and it matches the MBPro! if i had to choose between usb2 and fw400, i would go for firewire, in case you will edit video from your ext HD, fw400 has better sustained speed.
the only external mouse i barely use in an old iMac mouse so i can't help you on that.

Please don't hurt me  . I'm really excited to use the mac, but I still need windows functionality as well, and since I probably won't be upgrading anytime soon, it makes sense for me to go with Vista.
