I've been eagerly awaiting the Docs to Go iPad update, less for the ability to edit docs that then file system it has. I can select any folders on my laptop in the D2G desktop application, and then these files are synchronised to my iPad. Any changes I make to files, or new files I create, are stored in these synced folders, then soon as I am back home on the same wifi connection on my laptop, the desktop application syncs the files so both machines have the most up to date versions. I don't have to worry about manually dragging and dropping files between iPad/ iPhone and laptop and worry about not have all or the most current versions I need when I'm away from home for a few days. Any files in the D2G app on the iPad can be opened in any of the other apps if I wish to use different editing programmes, or show a file on a projector via Expedition, and then they can all be saved back in D2G for seamless synchronisation!

The would be the perfect file system for me, if only all files synchronised in this way (i.e. anything that can't be read by D2G like an mp3 or quicktime movie isn't synchronised.) I live and often travel in areas of the UK with no mobile reception, so although I have my trusty Mifi, I can't rely on being able to access my cloud storage all the time.

Are there any developers out there that could take the idea of this desktop application and turn it into a stand-alone app? Or is there one that already does this, and I just haven't found it? I don't mean Goodreader or Airsharing HD (which I also have) as they don't have this desktop application idea for synchronising, just a wifi connection to drag and drop files over.

Damn my useless music degrees - if only I had studied something more useful like computers so I could do this myself.....:)
