Well, that didn't last long.... Alphabet claims they don't have the patience (or finances) to wait for the robot company to become profitable:

From what I've read, Google went on a buying spree, buying up unrelated robotics companies around the world and then expected them all to work together as a cohesive unit which obviously didn't occur. It seems more like Google didn't really think through their idea and just gave up on it.

I guess It'll end up just being funded by DARPA again, which is unfortunate, I didn't really like the thought of Boston Dynamics making war machines.

How goosd is BD's system anyway? They show nice movies but over the last 5 years they had the same videos, just moved from 4 legs to two legs. This could be a huge step forward or only a marginal improvment. Does anybody have insights?
