Have had the Pro 11 M1 for 6 months and I’m very happy with it. I’ve always liked the bigger one too, but bought the 11 just because it’s easier to use as a tablet in hand.

I can buy a 12.9 M1 for 725€ with just two months of use. Great opportunity, but would have to buy the Magic Keyboard for that to use it more like a laptop, so we’re talking 1065€ overall.

Don’t know if I should buy it or buy a laptop instead to be more productive. I also have a 2019 iMac 27, but having a M1 MBA would be cool also.

I’m also worried about the blooming in the bigger iPad Pro.

Suggestions?

Wait to see what the new iPad hardware brings honestly. I would like to think Apple has to go big this year because an M2 iPad isn’t going to move units especially with the bland iPadOS 16 reveal. At this point you have to ask how Apple can improve the iPad Pro models so people buy new ones especially since resell values are in the dumpster. Hell, I can get a brand new IPP 11” base model for cheaper than a used one right now.

Blooming is overblown. I’ve had my 12.9 iPP for over a year and blooming is present, but it’s not an issue to where it annoys me. I think it’s the same approach with jelly scrolling on the latest iPad Mini… some don’t have issues with it while some see it as a hindrance.

But I would suggest going with the MBA… I think it would complement your iPad so well. Get some type of clamp that sit along side it like a Mountie and use Universal Control.

If you have had the 11" for 6 months and like it, why change.....?
Agree with above, if you want a new device MBA (even better deal on Amazon, £100 off in UK).

iPad Pro's go for a long time, my 1st gen 12.9 is still fantastic, and supports iPadOS 16.

Which device are you likely to use more?

I prefer desktops for traditional computing tasks and tablets for bed/couch/mobile use. For me, each iPad gets more usage than the laptop by a long shot.

That said, I do own laptops for the rare occasions I need a full desktop OS while away from home/work.

If the OP has a buyer for the 11" then that's a different matter altogether.......🤪
Then the 12.9 is a good deal.

I'd go for the MBA just because it's a different product and it will allow for unique use cases. In this case, the 12.9" is just a bigger version of the iPad you already have with a somewhat better screen.

Personally, like @rui no onna I also prefer desktops (I have a 24" iMac) over laptops for work relates things and the iPad Pro for traveling, couch, bed.

As for blooming, I agree with @Ludatyk that it's an overblown issue. In daylight conditions you won't notice a thing. Only in dark rooms with no or very low surrounding light you may notice it a bit, especially when reading in dark mode or around UI elements that are on a screen

Depends on how you define "productive", and there is no correct answer to this. If the only thing stopping you from being productive on your 11" iPad is the size of its screen, get the 13" iPad; however, if you need your iMac to be productive then get the Air. Especially if you don't always want to sit at that desk to be productive.

FWIW, the upcoming Stage Manager is a lot nicer on the 13" iPad.

Personally, if you have to ask, could it be possible that you don’t require either device? Just food for thought.
I prefer iPads for my time off work while I use a Mac for work and while my GAS itches me to buy a second iPad I really don’t need one myself at the moment.

I Believe it does. Even on cloudy days it charges. Once it’s dark there is no power at the controller and it’s shut down(while connected to the battery). I did not see any reverse flow of power from battery.

I believe you posted this in the wrong thread.

I’m a life-long MS Windows user but I’m thinking of buying M2 MBA because it will complement my iPhone and my 11” M1 iPP really well. The Apple ecosystem really sucked me in.
