Hi All...

As you may recall I was one of the first MR members to post photos of the new 11" MBA.... just FYI it went back the other day and they had to provide me with a replacement.

The underneath of the MBA had what appeared to be scratches/cracks which were not caused by me. They said at the Apple store that they were 'machine marks' but it seemed like it was defective or at the very least blemished.

I asked them to replace the bottom plate however that was not an option and they had to replace the whole machine!

The experience was actually a little funny at the Genius Bar.... another Genius was was severing a customer next to me and told me "James was on the way" so to get my machine out ready.
I did so and he stopped mid sentence when explaining about the other customers battery issue, left him and flew over to me to find out what was going on LOL...with the words... "oooooooooooooo.... MacBook Air!" :D

Unfortunately I belong to the "I had to return my defective MBA Club".

As of yesterday I was on my second, thanks to the great service of the genius bar at the store, who spoke to the manager and got mine replaced in just two days.

Unfortunately that one lasted only two days, blew up this morning, and now I'm left with just my 11" MBA till Apple provides me with another 13".

It's the display issue which some refer to as the logic board. I'm not sure that Apple has had enough time to sort it out properly yet, so I'm not going to name what it seems to be.

What I _will_ do is tell you that the screen goes to a huge number of mutli-colored lines on the display instead of showing you what you are doing with the computer.

Oh well, that's what happens with a first gen device.... :)

Come on apple. Get your things together. MBA is not really first gen device. It was just had a major revision, but it is not first gen product. Should be doing better than this.

Though they are naming the new laptops MacBook Air I don't really consider it the second generation. The entire engineering of these new MBA is different from the original MBA. I'm not surprised there are issues, lucking out at the moment.

It is such a radical change it might as well be a first gen device
