I’m sure this has been asked before so I apologize. I’m new to the forum and looking for an alternative to the default photo app in my iPhone 11. I’d like an app where when I create a folder it MOVES the picture and not copy it. I’d also like to be able to separate pictures from videos. Can anyone help? Thank you so much!

There is literally no other app that integrates into iOS deeper than photos app. What’s your use case? Using iPhone to take photos?

Yes, I use the iPhone to take pix. I have 984 photos and they're all in the default "bucket." I've created albums and the pix are in the albums but they're also in the bucket where I'd like to get rid of them since they're already in albums. And they don't seem to be in any order. For example, when my grand daughter was born, I got a lot of pictures but--18 months later--my daughter-in-law missed sending me some so now those are in the mose recent pix. I seriously don't like that app and I'm shocked there aren't more features to it.

Album isn’t a “folder” but rather something that links your existing photo to that collection. It’s not designed to work like a folder.

As for orders, they use date accessed or date created. You can easily modify metadata using iOS 15. It’s not going to be a huge deal imo.

OK, thanks. I'll try folders.

You could use the files app but before I get to that, the default photos app…on the bottom bar, if you tap library bottom left and then all photos on the bar above this is all your photos in chronological order. If you tap Albums and then recent those are your photos in order of being added. So those photos of your grand daughter would go into their chronological place when viewing in the library tab but be most recent when viewing in the albums - recent

The default files app would be more of the classic folder structure it sounds like you are looking for. In the photos app, open a photo or use the bulk select and then tap the share button (box with arrow pointing up) and the scroll to the ‘Save to Files’ option. You can then select to save onto your iPhone or into iCloud (iCloud has the advantage of accessing your photos on any devices) and can create whatever folders you like. Once the photos are saved in the files app they can be deleted from the photos app.

I use this option for my photography on my Mac. All my raw files are stored in my photos library and then I export them into folders in finder which I access via the files app on my iPhone.
