Is there an alternative to wirelessly connect your MacBook Pro to your TV?

I know you can connect a Media Server with a Samsung TV and play films etc but that's not what I want. I'd like to be able to see my actual Mac Desktop so I can work on my TV.

I do not think you can without the ATV.

Maybe a miracast device?

I don't think so. That's why I phased myself off of apple. Sure it's awesome, if everything else is apple.

Mind if I ask why you'd prefer not to use an :apple:TV? Nothing short of using an HDMI cable is going to offer a better solution that the native one offered by Apple and it's fairly inexpensive.

Apple keeps AirPlay for themselves. I've seen some third party stuff, but they use a reverse-engineered version of Airplay. All Apple has to do is change their standard slightly to keep that stuff from working.

With the app above I can mirror the screen from my MacbookPro to my tv. Minix Neo X8-H (Android box) has Airpin(pro) preinstalled and when it is on, MacbookPro connects to it :)

Alternatively, you could also install the new "Mirror for Samsung TV" mac app. This app simply casts your screen to your TV. No extra hardware required: You can download that from the App Store: http://apple.co/2242oo7

Your screen - or your browser? Because you can get a chromecast and cast your browser to a tv...
