It seems the Mac Pro 7,1 uses 6- and 8-pin mini connectors to connect to the motherboard. 6-pin mini connectors are a dime a dozen so to speak as they were used in the cMP, but as far as I can tell no one makes an 8-pin mini to 8 pin AUX PCIe power cable, and that means powering anything that requires an 8-pin input won't work unless one gets the Belkin package. Does anyone know of an alternative source of these or should I just buy the Belkin package and wait for it to show up before I can do anything?

Buy the Belkin unless you can wait 4-6+ weeks. ModDIY said they will have the cables, eventually. I'm sure eBay and Amazon sellers will eventually too, but quality on those is hit/miss. The Belkin cables aren't THAT expensive for the six cables they include.

I’m not sure if the pinout Apple used with mini 6 pin On cMP would match 7,1 ive not seen anyone post a pinout comparison. So if you do try to use it be sure to check with voltmeter that it is sending 12v to the correct pins unless some has already verified this With proof.

^^^^Belkin is making cables that seem to work AFAIK. A few folks have posted that they are working. I've physically checked them and they are mini pins like the 5,1 cMP was.

IDK, I just ordered them, arrival time is saying 48 hours. They're not that expensive, especially within context of Mac Pro.

I know Belkin is making them. My point is don’t assume the 5,1 pin layout is the same they used in the 7,1. Meaning for example just because pin 1 on the 5,1 was +12v doesn’t mean that it is also the same on the 7,1. It *could* be a ground. Until someone has confirmed with evidence the pinout I’d suggest anyone needing it to use the belkin ones

^^^^The 7,1 has mini flour pin and mini three pin power connectors. I was just inside my 7,1 but didn't count the connectors. The 5,1 OTH only had 2 mini three pin connectors. Since the 5,1 didn't have four pin connectors, it certainly is not the same. I'm sure the connectors on GPUs are standard and that Apple has pinned their connectors to that standard.

My Belkin cables arrived today, I ordered them yesterday from Apple. My Aorus 5700XT is scheduled for delivery tomorrow.

Certainly quality cables. They have woven sheaths like the cables from Apple thumbsup.gif But, $63. bux for the cables is a bit much since I will be using only two of them. the other four will sit in my extra cable box. Anybody need any cablesconfused.gif
