Hello there

Which app would you recommend as an alternative to Google News? I do t like the design of this app, news are not up to date and no French from the same source.

I’d love to have news from diverse sources and more international to see what’s happening in the world or in countries we never heard about (Vanuatu).

It feels like a piece of information is repeated by all big news outlet.

Any recommendations?

An RSS reader/service. You choose the sources and tailor the news feed to your interests. The source has to offer an RSS feed, of course. It's quite commonly available.

RSS is one of the most underrated "technology" on internet, IMO.

Speaking of services, I mention Feedly, just because I use it. There're many alternatives, though.

It's not mandatory to use a service. You can just curate your feeds in an app (RSS client/reader). The RSS services offer usually the syncing between devices through their servers, which is handy.

You can even set and manage your own service (self-hosted) if you're familiar with servers and installations, without relying on other companies to do the job.

Thanks. Is it possible to sort by criteria? Actually, I’d love to have on one page news from one country & on one other, another country.

MacRumors, for example. :)
You find the RSS icon/link just in the top-right corner.

CNN, euronews, my local newspaper, a bunch of blogs, websites covering graphic stuff, MacStories, Apple Newsroom, Ars Technica, Audio/Hi-Fi/Music related websites, etc.

Currently ~70 sources.

With Feedly it's possible to add as a source even Twitter users/lists, Reddit, create web alerts based on topics/keywords and even newsletters by creating specific e-mail addresses to gather them (to declutter regular e-mail flow).
