i was seriously wanting the larger 12.9 ipad, but sadly the prices are getting quite rediculous. The specs are amazing, except for that they aren't even necessary for what I (and most people) do with them. I also am getting a bit bored with iOS. But it's been many years since I've owned anything Android or Windows. But the little time I've spent looking at larger tablets doesn't turn up a whole lot. There are tons of tablets in the 7-8 range... But not much over 12".
So far this one has me curious. Anyone tried this?

Wow, that looks interesting, I've never heard of it before. It ticks off several of my boxes: 3:2 screen ratio, large screen, and active pen. It looks like Lisa Gade did a review of it a year ago.

What do you think? The review makes me a little hesitant... but for that price... tempting

You can get an 12.9 IPP 512GB for $799

Or maybe go with the 10.5 IPP?

Ya... the 2017 12.9 is a good option too..

I would look into the 64GB last-gen 12.9” iPad Pro that B&H is selling for $579. I really don’t think the experience using that Chuwi tablet would be a good one.

I like the features on iOS devices. I like that I can go from iPhone to iPad to Mac. Adding PDFs to Notes or when I copy from one device and paste on another.

The last time I used a Microsoft tablet and computer I was disappointed.

I would try to price match the B&H 12.9in IPP for $579 since they don't have any in stock and go with that. That's way cheaper than my 4th Gen iPad.

I ended up getting a Surface Pro 6. The base model is on sale $799. And I'll keep my older iPad model. It'll be interesting getting familiar with Windows again. It's been a number of years since I had a Windows machine.
After pricing it out.. one thing stood out to me. I always read some people here blasting Apple for what they charge for storage upgrades. Seems like it's the same pricing increases with windows. It's $200 to go from 128gb to 256. The jump from 512 to 1tb is $400 (can't give an exact price on jump from 256 to 512, since that includes a processor bump from i5 to i7). I don't really think comparing pricing to a self build/component cost is fair, since most people cant/won't do that.

True but Surface has micro sd slot I believe. I always use micro sd card for media storage (or in a laptop I use the HDD for this). So when I buy a device, I consider the storage I need for the apps I want to install (or in a laptop the SSD part). I do the same with my Android phone btw which is why it does not bother me at all that my phone has 32 GB internal storage.

When it comes to iPads I have to consider both and that does take into account because I need a lot more storage for media consumption than for apps. And I don't need fast storage for media consumption.

I personally prefer the Microsoft approach, but that's up to personal preferences.

Yes, you can go to the cloud route but that requires Internet. The other thing is that I find iTunes annoying (at least for Windows it's just not a good solution) and I prefer to not transfer files via iTunes or any software to be honest. I just copy them to the card and then I am free to put the micro SD card in any device I have.

U ain’t lying... just checked pricing and you can get a decent speed micro SD card with 256gb storage for like $45. And the slot on the Surface Pro is hidden behind the kick stand in a pretty discreet location. You stick the card in and forget it’s even there.
