Hi Guys,

I am looking to upgrade my disk drives on my 5.1 2010 Mac pro. What is the fastest option available as I need to playout multiple Prores files at the sametime.? I have seen the OWC Pcie ssd and I like the look of the OCZ Revo 350. Can the OCZ be used in a mac pro even if it is non bootable?

I currently have a SAS raid card and my 4 internal bays in a raid 0 with spinning drives. If I swap all 4 drives to SSD what speed would i get?

Intresting

I look the look of this but my only issue is that if I want to raid the blades I would need to use 2 PCIe slots. Is there a raid controller that can use these blades?

Hum

Can you recommend a PCI to blade adapter? Out of curiosity what kind of speeds would i get from 4x 3.5" or 2.5" ssd' in raid 0 Via my pci raid controller?

I think to be honest I might go the blade ssd route and get rid of the pci raid controler to free up a Pci slot. is software raid of the 4 internal drive bays possible?

I use the DT-120 from LYCOM for the XP941 and also for one PLEXTOR M6e.

what SAS RAID controller do you have? the one from Apple?

I think you should be able to create a software RAID on the four internal S-ATA slots. it will work for sure if you buy SoftRAID -> http://softraid.com

Sorry, no answer to your question, but what Mac Pro you seen that isn't made of aluminium? :p

i guess he means the older aluminium tower,
While the new cylindrical mac pro is indeed aluminium as well, it doesn't look like it.
its not often that aluminium is finished to mirror shine on macs and it would be easy to assume that its steel or something else. (like the back of the old iPods.)

I think you knew what he meant, but you were being pedantic.
Dont do that; it contributes nothing to the discussion.

To be precise its a Mac Pro 5.1

CASlondon That looks intresting but it only show max read write speeds of 500 ish. Does that mean that the raid controller is a bottle neck?
