Aluminum iMac Freezing Poll - (Even if you iMac does not freeze please come inside)

Don't really get the idea behind this poll, since we all know there are issues with some iMacs, and to be honest, it shouldn't matter if it's only one or a million.. This shouldn't happen.
Of course, it sucks if you're on of the people to own a freezer; thus I picked Freezer.

Mine froze once before the 1.1 update. I feel kinda bad that it is lumped in with the computers that freeze every 5 minutes.
Mine froze 3 times in all but I don't feel i have "A" freezer. You should refine your poll questions if you're looking for trends.
Mine only froze playing command and conquer 3
It is rather new and that is the only game I have right now. It never froze in any other application.
Now with leopard and the last update no freezes playing CC3 in areas it usually would freeze up, I even kicked up the game's visuals.

I am trying to find out what percentage of computers were effected.
So.......
Mine has not frozen from most of the standard item described here that causes it like certain screen savers, front row, games, etc. But after installing Leopard, my kids managed to get a few kernel panics in Photobooth, so I marked myself as having the freeze. Other than those 2-3 panics in photobooth, I have never experienced any other issues. These were not the freezes most commonly described where the system keep running and the screen is frozen, but the good old dimming of the screen, several languages, with the notification that you have to restart your machine, Kernel Panic.
So how do we know that this isn't just a fault with Photobooth in Leopard versus an indication of an issue with video card in general?
BTW - I installed the 1.3 update tonight, and fiddled with photobooth for about 10 minutes, and could not get the system to panic. Not enough time to know for sure whether the 1.3 patch had this effect, but time will tell.

That's what I was thinking, but my machine crashed from something "graphically intense", and others have posted that Photobooth will cause the freeze. I guess it illustrates the potential confusion between the "freeze" and other normal "crashes".
My Al iMac has not experienced a single freeze. It currently runs Leopard and Vista x64 without a hitch.
I've had 2 hard freezes, as far as I know. I have Tiger, still.

One with 1.1 - downloaded the 1.2 update, left my iMac trying to restart for too long. Came back to see my screen all fraggy and repeated. moved my mouse. It went away but everything was jammed up. Restarted it. (My video card was mildly warm. Not hot, but kinda warm. Now I have 1.2 and it's much colder. Still warmer than the rest of the machine, but it's definitely NOT hot and it takes much longer to get much hotter)

No freezing, but I can bring the machine to its knees (crash programs) with enough HD video and other such going on.
And hey, if I had a new machine that was freezing up five times a day, I'd return it no matter how long I had to stay on hold. I don't know why some people are suffering for so long as there are clearly machines out there (like mine) that are working right.
24" Imac 4GB OWC RAM 2.8MHz, 750GB HDD and SMC fan control cause I think it needs it. I did unload Menufela in anticipation of Leopard

Guys... Isn't this the wrong question?
I mean, I'm not surprised that many people have had their mac freeze at least once or twice, especially if they've owned it for several months...
But, the current iMac issue causes multiple freezings per day every day. I think a better choice would be who has a mac that consistently freezes on a daily basis, vs. someone who's Mac freezes only rarely if at all...
Just my thoughts...

Hey, how come I can only vote once, I bought 2 one works, the other freezes.
Consider that cancelled out by the fact I also got 2, and they both froze.
Not really the point of this thread. There is a certain type of freeeze I am talking about... Where all the GUI stops and only the mouse can be moved. If music was playing in the background it can still be heard. The mouse pointer can also still be moved around...
This is believed to be a hardware issue. If you have experienced this once, you will experience this again!
Well, your poll and first message don't ask for a certain type of freeze. Just whether you've ever had even a single freeze for any reason. Don't you think that skews the results?

I applaud what you're going after here, Wakerider, but I'm not sure if this will prove anything.
My iMac is not a "freezer". I use it pretty much 24/7 and have no random lockups, artifacting or any of the other issues reported by those less fortunate.
That said, this machine HAS frozen once or twice since I took delivery. Then again, the 20" Core Duo iMac I owned before this one froze on the rare occasion as well.
Macs are good computers but they're not perfect. There's a difference between a Mac that freezes in normal use once every 3 months and one that does so several times a day or more.
On your poll even though my iMac is working perfectly for me I'd have to enter it as a "freezer". I am going to pass on doing so because I think it would be sending the wrong message if I did.
Never froze once. Not in tiger and not in leopard.
The ram inside is from apple; haven't added anything or changed any hardware.
I hope someone can figure our this problem and fix it. I want everyone to enjoy their new mac as much as I do.
