My parents have a 24" aluminum iMac, and the Bluetooth hardware has died (under warranty).

Just to know what to expect: is Bluetooth a separate module, or is it on the motherboard?

Is it likely that an Apple Genius could replace the Bluetooth hardware (or entire mobo) on the spot, without having to ship the iMac off anyplace?

TIA!

It's a separate module I believe, so they may be able to fix it there; however it will still have a repair queue, which means shipping it out to fix may be faster.

Thanks.

The problem is intermittent and they do have a wired backup mouse, so it's not urgent. So maybe they can book an advance appointment and avoid having to ship it.
