I'm trying to open this door and ive used 5 different screw driver heads/sizes. It isn't stripped and does turn but won't come out.

It doesn't come out, it just loosens. Once it's loose, you can pop the door off. Other people have posted about the same issue several times in the forum as well.

well it doesn't tighten.. how do you pop it off?

Here's my suggestion; worked for me.

After I unscrewed the screw, I couldn't 'pop' the door out to it's rather snug fit. So I got the most harmless thing I could find that wouldn't scratch anything: a rather dull toothpick. I inserted the end into one of the 'vent holes', applied a tiny amount of leverage, and POP it came right out. Nothing worse for the wear.

I'd wish you good luck, but you really don't need it. It's SUPER easy.

The slot door on the Alu iMac is pretty lame compared to the white iMac. After loosening the screw a bit, I just inserted a paper clip in one of the vent holes and popped it out. When you put it back on, slap the door back on and tighten the screw as much as you can (it won't tighten fully). However, the door is rather snug fit so it won't pose much of a problem even if the screw isn't all the way in.

I had this same problem...several screwdrivers didn't work, then, as I was thinking I'd have to take the damn thing into the store to have them install my RAM for me, I tried the screwdriver on a Swiss Army Knife I had lying around. Worked like a charm.

Good luck!
