i just started working at a car garage and polished some old rusted aluminum to look nice and shinny (took forever) but thats not the point, i was wondering if it would be safe to apply some aluminum polish to areas on my macbook air where i have some scuffs ? thank you anyone for any suggestions

I would try it on a very very unnoticable part first...

and if you're thinking about it doing it near the LCD (on the frame of the LCD screen for example), i would also recomend that you find some way of covering/protectign the LCD from the polish.

I don't know for sure, but I suspect a MacBook Pro is anodized.
Yup

MacBook Air is carved from a solid sheet of aluminum. This revolutionary unibody design replaces many parts with just one and results in a clean, seamless appearance. The anodized aluminum surface and stunning contours confirm MacBook Air as a feat of beautiful engineering.

Simple polishing won't work.
