iPhone 14 Pro Max Always on Display question

Hi as topic stated ,

In apple's article its says when always on display goes completely dark while face down , has anyone tested if the screen will still go completely dark even if is still connected to paired apple watch ?( while lying face down )

Yes. It’s based on the phone proximity sensor on the front.
