Am I alone on this?

I posted this in another topic titled "Should I wait" but I want to see if I'm the only one that thinks this way.

What bugs? Maybe I'm one of the lucky ones. I picked up my iMac i7 27" 2 weeks ago and my 13" MBP 3 weeks ago and have had none of the problems alot of other seem to be having.
I'm new to Mac (lovin it too) and this forum too, and it seems to me that once someone finds the smallest of issue (picking fly sh** out of pepper) everyone jumps on the band wagon and make a huge deal out of it. Granted, some of the issues are valid concerns and we pay alot of cabbage for these puters, but come on, "my hard drive makes noise". I been playin with puters for years and I have never head an absolute silent mechanical drive. The fan on my UPS, that sits on the floor under my desk, is louder than the faint noise I hear from the iMac hard drive sitting directly in front of me.
Anyway, don't mean to be a nag, but there are more complaints than praise for Mac on this forum as well as "I ordered my Mac today", I got the tracking #", "I wonder where the package is (it left the shipping point 10 mins. ago)", "I got my Mac today", "I'm opening the box", "I'm plugging it in", "I'm powering it up, oh sh** there's a microscopic mark on it should I return it?"posts. I'd be nice if there were more post like "here's a trick or a tip that I learned" or "I found this killer Mac app", etc.
Bottom line, don't wait. These puters are awesome. Nowadays, the minute you buy what you think is the latest and greatest, it'll be old news the minute you walk out the door with your new puter.

Please don't burn me as this is just my $.02 worth.

I read all the topics here on the defective iMacs before I bought mine and that did not stop me at all from buying one. I ordered an i7 with 2TB and have no issues with it at all. Love my iMac.

couldnt agree more, i joined this forum to learn some tricks and to do´s on my change to mac instead of that i have gotten really scared of getting an imac( wich im getting anyway).

You have to remember that not every Mac user is on these forums as well, and that there are plenty of lurkers (readers) as well as the posters. I have had no problems so far, but I think what deters most people from making threads like this is that it can annoy the people who are having problems and it can sound quite selfish if it's taken the wrong way.

I don't always take the negative to heart. I understand that some people overdramatize certain issues, but I still want to know prior to making a purchase. Like someone else said, usually only the people with problems are the ones making posts. How many are having no problems at all that are keeping silent?

I understand what you mean but its different if your hard drive literally sounds like its going to eat something. at first my hard drive was quiet and all of the sudden its a monster. im sure if you were in the same position as some of us then you would do the same thing. ive had my noisy hard drive for eight months but it keeps getting louder.

It's a feature, one that the Apple engineers had been working long and hard on to perfect. They are quite happy with the results - it's called Nominal Operative Intermittend Sound Emission (NOISE) which is intended to indicate nominal operation. If there is a sudden reduction or stop in NOISE then your hard-drive is indicating that you will need Servicing Charter Repair Elements With Expensive Deployment (SCREWED). If the error cannot be corrected by being SCREWED then your dirve may need to be Replaced After Processing by Expensive Deployment (RAPED).

So to sum up, no NOISE means you need to be prepared for the cost of being SCREWED or RAPED.

I received my BTO 21.5" imac a few weeks back. Sure it has a touch of warmth/discoloration/yellow towards the bottom but really doesn't bother me and I hardly ever notice it. I've been extremely pleased with it so far. I also enjoy using my iphone as a touch pad if I'm using it late at night to avoid waking up 11 month son (my office room became his baby room ). I agree with the OP. Although I do sympathize with all those people with serious issues on their machines. I just think that in the big picture, they are in the minority.

Theres a difference between normal hard drive noise and a hard drive that sounds like its going to eat something. theres no reason that it should be that loud. i put up with it for eight months and it only got louder. like i said im sure if you had the hard drive that i do you would want another one
