I don't plan on using it until an iOS 8 Jailbreak is available but is it a smart idea to buy it now to ensure the version of iOS 8 I have on it will be compatible w/ the Jailbreak?
maybe, prob not though.
Any reason it could be considered a bad idea?
Depending on which model and whether or not you get in on contract, there are anywhere from 199 to 849 reasons

if you need the money today is the only way it could be a bad idea to get now
The (typical range for) cost of the phone most likely. What's the poster above referring to when he says there could be anywhere from 199 to 500 reasons it could be a bad idea?

Ahhhh thank you, that flew right over my head. Is the cost of the phone really going to change in a month or two or whenever the Jailbreak is released though? I'm guessing based on past releases it will be released by November.
Yeah I wonder what that poster above was talking aboutCost will stay the same until the next iPhone in 2015 will be released. Some stores might do some promos like they did last year for BF, but MRSP won't change.
That perhaps if you are buying it mainly with jailbreak in mind and one doesn't come for a long time if perhaps ever at all then maybe you might be wasting that money essentially.Yeah I wonder what that poster above was talking about

Not sure how it was a bigger challenge, and perhaps the other way around. It's likely to be done, but no one knows for sure, nor how soon (or late) it would be.There will probably be a Jailbreak within a month or two. iOS 7 was a bigger change than 8 and they had one by January.

iOS 7 was a completely new operating system, iOS 8 is iOS 7 with a few added features.
I wouldn't call it completely new. The GUI was really just redone
iOS 7 was certainly new as far as UI (among other things), but I would argue that there's much more new as far as what's underneath when it comes to iOS 8. What something looks like is just one aspect of it all, and can usually be a smaller one than many other larger and/or more important (even if less visible to the end user) changes.iOS 7 was a completely new operating system, iOS 8 is iOS 7 with a few added features.

Most probably not. If you do have some issues then you are covered under the 1yr warranty anyway.Should I be concerned about potential hardware problems with the first batch?
