Am I crazy for wanting to go this route?

Selling my Macbook pro m1 16" and getting the new Mac Mini for this semi portable set up 😜

I'm either at home or in a hotel. Not hanging out in coffee shops. I have an iPad for things like being on a plane, etc.

Am I crazy for wanting this set up?

I don’t think you are crazy as such, however not sure why would go for it over a MacBook Pro.

instead of just one piece you are now lugging a

mini
monitor
keyboard
mouse

and getting inferior screen.

Good point but that's the thing, i feel like the huge portable screen would make up for the hassle of having to carry the stuff in a bag to my location, if that makes sense. If I was jumping around lots it would suck but if im not at home or in a hotel room I really only need a phone. I cant think of anywhere else a laptop would come in handy.
