It was bad enough when an iOS 12 update removed the ‘add to reading list’ feature without clicking into the article. With iOS 13, it seems the only way you can save an article from Apple News is to open the article, then open it in safari, then save it to your reading list. Please tell me I’m missing something obvious?

if not, WTF are beta testers and developers doing that they don’t notice these things and point them out to Apple to change them?!

Hit the share sheet icon. Scroll down a little. Click save story.

Wow, so no one else adds stories from the News app to safari’s read later list?!?

Nope...

Long pressing the article title opens up the following options:

Inside the article you're presented with the following options:

These are the options to add/remove actions. NONE of them are share or add to Safari reading list

Strange... I’m clearly getting a different result. What device and version of iOS are you using?

13.1.2. I was using an 11” iPad Pro, but just checked my iPhone X running 13.1.2 and it’s showing me the same thing. Neither match your screenshot.

I'm finding the option pretty easily in the share sheet. 13.2 beta.

I’m on 13.2 Beta. So probably an upcoming change.

my iPad is running 13.2 now and I’m still not seeing that option. Have either of you upgraded from the beta?

edit, also set up a brand new ipad on 13.2 and don’t see the ‘add to reading list’ feature on it either

I too have lost the ability to open a news article in safari or save it to safari favorites on my Xs Max on iOS 13.2 final.
HOW DO WE GET IT BACK?!?

So, I’m finding that some articles don’t allow
to open them in safari and some do. From there you can bookmark them.

Not sure why some News stories will only let you copy a link that goes only to Apple news if you paste the link into Safari (opens in the app if you paste it into safari) while others will open the article at the originating website in Safari.

im not an Apple news subscriber, but every article I open allows me to open in safari where I can then add to offline reading

Where is there a share option in News that would allow this option to work?
