Am I the only one happy with 2GB RAM?

I purchased the 11.6 MBA with the 1.4 processor and 2GB of RAM. I upgraded to 128 GB SSD. For me the storage space was very important. I mostly use the air for surfing, photo editing on iPhoto, e-mail, word processing and creating presentations with PowerPoint or Keynote. I absolutely love this computer and in fact it may be my favorite Mac, and with the exception of the Mac mini and power Mac, I've owned every Mac since the iMac G4.

It is a tiny bit sluggish editing photos, but not so much that I mind.

I just wanted to see others' thoughts on the 1.4 2GB setup. It seems like no one buys the 2GB RAM model, but for those that did let me know if you are happy or regret it.

I had the 2gb ram on a 13" air and it wasn't that i was unhappy, i just thought that it was one of the best $100 purchases i could make on something that i couldnt change later. If i could have upgraded the ram in a year from now, sure no problem 2gb would have . But since i cant, and i know I plan on keeping this air for a while, it was well worth it since i won't have to think about it in the future. Oh, and resell value will definitely be much better also

No you are not the only one. I just got my 1.4 11" the other day and it is perfect for what I need. If I want to do anything intensive I go to my custom built i7 windows machine so 2GB of RAM is fine for me.

I have the 11.6 with only 2Gb of RAM. It is all I need and all most people need. By the time 4GB is necessary, I'll be ready to upgrade to the laptop.

I love my 11.6" MacBook Air. I have the base model, 2Gb RAM is fine for what I'm doing on it. However, I do wish that I upgrade the SSD.
This is also my favorite Mac

Wife's 13" Air only has 2GB of memory. It's more than sufficient for running a few tabs of internet browser and an instance of iTunes.

My wife has a 2GB 11" MacBook Air and we have two Mac minis acting as entertainment centers. They work just fine. Not everyone needs more than 2GB.

I got 4GB but the 2GB should be fine. These are FAST systems to begin with. I just got mine today and cant believe how quick it is.

Not getting 4GB is the ONLY thing I've ever regretted with any Apple purchase. The reason it doesn't bother me is because I know I'll dump this and buy a new MBP in a few months (I bought this like November 1st, and if I keep laptops 6-8 months..) or an MBA if the MBPs are unimpressive.

I'm very happy with my 11" with the standard 2gb of memory but 128gb SSD upgrade. It does everything I want- surf net, email, occasional word processing/Excel, gtalk and Facetime.

No. My car has a 4 cylinder engine and I'm happy with that too.

I aree with you rscott505 .

2 GB is oddly great in this machine. It still feels faster than my much quicker Macs due to the solid state. Yes, I know if I start doing video or photo work, that will change, but it is incredibly impressive.

The Air, for me, is more of an appliance like iPad. Apple obviously found too that 2GB was perfectly acceptable for the little guy.

Furthermore, I got the same model as you, to my door on black Friday Amazon price of $1099. At that price, if in a year there is a greatly improved Air (new processors), I'll just upgrade and sell this one or give it to a family member.

It's very nice the price has been brought down so much on these to near iPad level. Especially as I find it infinitely more usable on a day to day basis than an iPad.

I think it's just fantastic. 2GB is fine with me too.

I have a MBA 11 with 4GB, and do heavy iOS development, iTunes, multiple browsers, etc. The activity monitor almost never shows me needing over 2GB of memory. It's only there in case I need to run VMWare or Virtual Box.

2GB is less of an issue thanks to the SSD - swapping is relatively fast. I used to have the 2008 MBA with SSD, and though the SSD was slower than the 2010 models, I was pleasantly surprised by the speed of the machine. Granted, I use my MBA as my portable computer, since I have a much, much more desktop. But unless you plan to use memory-hungry applications, 2GB is OK.

(Compare this to my first MacBook, which shipped with just 512MB of RAM!)
