My first iPhone was the 4S, and I treated it about as good as you could treat a smartphone. Always was gentle when connecting the charging cable, never dropped it, kept it immaculate! But three months after I got it, the charging cable would NOT stay in the port anymore. I had to secure it with freaking rubber bands around the phone just to charge it. Tried a bunch of different cables, but had the same problem with all of them. It just wouldn't connect and stay in there unless you forced it to.

Then I got the 5C. A few months after getting it, same thing happens despite treating it just as good, if not better than the 4S.

And NOW... the same problem is happening with my 6S Plus! The cable will not stay in to charge it unless I hold it there! Why does this happen to me with every iPhone? Is there a solution or am I just gonna have to get a new phone and hope the same problem doesn't keep happening? I swear I take such good care of these things only for this to happen mere months after I get them. :(

Sounds like bad luck. Your 6s+ should still be under warranty, take it to Apple and have them give you a new one if yours is defective. Don't forget to backup first.

Even if the thing that kind of locks the connector in place breaks, there is nothing in the Lightning port that would force eject the plug. That's just weird.

Yeah, and what's more weird, is that the same exact thing happened on all three of his devices. Weird indeed....

Clean the charge port carefully with something non-metallic, like a toothpick or something. Or go to Apple and let them do it.

I'm sorry to say this but it really sounds so funny for me. I mean only with you this happens all the time... Why don't you shift to smart phones?

Sound like you have dirty pockets and its full of crap in the port hole. The cable isn't flush. Keep it clean.

Yep dirty ass pockets. Perhaps you should invest in a better washing machine or upgrade your personal hygiene practices.

I've destroyed the lightning port of my iPhone 5 by first forcing the connector in, when it was chockfull of lint. And then being too rough while cleaning it.

So topicstarter, be very careful when cleaning it. And if the connector then sits too loose, just find a repair shop and let it be replaced. Cost me about $50 or so.

Try cleaning the charging port with a toothpick to see if that helps. It's probably dust and dirt getting in the ports that's causing your problems.
Wasn't that suggested a few weeks ago earlier in the thread?

Yeah, and not only that, one would have to assume that the OP has already resolved the issue, since he hasn't responded since the first post on Dec. 28.
