i mean REALLY! i love its portability so much,it's perfect for work.but the fact you can't use the Apple Remote with it for stuff like Keynote is annoying...it's the only reason i still didn't buy one.

has anyone tried Twisted Melon with the new Macbook Air?

I take it you don't have an iPhone or iPod touch. I didn't realize it doesn't have an IR sensor though.

Relevance: The Keynote app would fix that issue.

god i'm tired of ppl saying the same thing.i do NOT want to use my iPhone as a remote...i want to use the Apple Remote.plus, what if someone wanted to display a presentation on my MacBook Air and he doesn't have an iPhone...

i don't even think the IRS sensor would've been an issue if they left it in there as i don't think it takes big space, does it?

anyways, i really want to know if someone tested Twisted Melon or not..

IR is so outdated. Get a Bluetooth remote.

That's why I said, "I take it you don't have ..." That way, if you did and didn't realize that was out there if would help. Sorry to be such a bother.

tell me where the sensor would go on the front of the machine??? the machine is too thin.

and my bet is u can't afford one and trying to make an excuse......

get a bluetooth remote.....

no backlit keyboard would kill the deal for you at that point though i bet :)

It certainly killed the deal for me. At next upgrade, I will buy a 13" or 15" MBP (whichever has the minimum acceptable specs) and add a SSD to it.

u should try a MBA next to a MBP. you will never want a MBP again. for one thing like backlit keyboard to kill the deal is a little excessive.

I have already tried them next to each other, and I stand my ground. My next MB* will probably be a 13" MBP with a SSD in it. Unless it still comes with the crippled 1280x800 display - because in that case, I'll even consider a MBP 15".

Excessive for a cosmetic and mostly non-functional feature, yes. I have been a habile touch-typist for 15 years. But I refuse to pay so much for a lesser computer when Apple skimps on a $10-feature.

Apple should really update the 'Apple Remote' to be both IR and Bluetooth.

I use the remote all the time - when controlling iTunes, or for presentations. It'd be nice to have the official Apple Remote be compatible.

exactly they should just stick bluetooth in the remote and make it universally compatible, "not that big a deal" as a famous person once said. ;) :apple:

There will be no IR on the next mbp, and the next apple remote will be bluetooth only.

Announced at the same time as the new mbp methinks...

Even though the OP is being a bit of an ass to people I still don't mean to hijack his thread. With that said..

Can anyone suggest a tiny bluetooth remote similar to the Apple one??

well..i hope so.but seeing how they recently updated the Apple Universal Dock and included the aluminum Apple Remote instead of the old white one,i wouldn't see them update it anytime soon.

But they only updated the romote itself in the universal dock by just replacing the White one with the aluminium one, simply because the White was very outdated, I would thnk with apples increased efforts with airplay compatibity will see them do away with docks and just have standalone remotes.

But I would be confident IR connectivity in any apple product from now on is done and dusted.

Just my two cents
