Am I the only one who thinks it would be best to wait until...
A) Christmas to see if the price lowers for the holiday season.
B) the next update to see if the price lowers because the technology won't be as new.

Seriously, I think I'd prefer to wait and see if the price lowers before going "OMG I MUST HAEV ONE!!!!!11" like most people on the forum. (No offense to any of you who went like that.)

~Cheers. :apple:

1. Apple doesn't change prices like that.
2. I wouldn't expect updates anytime soon. This IS an update and price drop for the Air.

Updates are at least 6 months out, by that thinking you would wait forever.

Most likely the prices will not be lowered, and an update of the MBA line will not occur within merely two months of the last update, the average update time for Apple's computer line is six months to one year, sometimes even longer, which could be witnessed by the MBA and its existence for 16 months without an update.

Apple doesn't lower prices. If you want to save some money, then buy from Amazon so you won't have to pay taxes. Buy now or wait until the next revision.

You can wait to buy a refurb or a used one off Craigslist, eBay, or Kijiji.

I agree with others that itll be 6-8months before they update again or offer a speed bump or lower price.

You shouldn't buy if you can wait till you need it or the next update. X-mas or Black Monday or Boxing Day, probably won't have deals.

6 months is a long time in the tech world
And there is always another update the next 6 months
So when do you know when to pull the trigger

You just make the best decision with the information you have at the time
And don't look back with regret based on information you didn't have

If you need one, buy
If you don't, wait
Works every time

No, what I meant is: If you wait 6 months now you will be at the same point again - just 6 months from now. New models will then appear again in 6 months and you will think again, why not wait?? So this line of thinking ends up in endlessly waiting for the next update...

Yep. "My new MacBook Air is just 6 months away." ...And always will be.

A. Apple doesn't do sales. They might reduce the starting price on Black Friday to $949. (Usually near the educational pricing - and sales/discounts don't stack.)

B) Apple doesn't reduce entry prices. Upon the update, you might see the 1.4Ghz/64GB be replaced by the 1.6 for the same $999 price point and then something newer/faster/higher capacity up the chain.

If you need it now, buy it now. If you don't need it now, don't buy it now. There will always be something better around the bend. Just don't count on lower entry prices. The few times Apple has reduced the point of entry in the past stand out only because they're such rare events.
