am i the only one who misses being able to 3finger snap to the top/bottom of a page?

i really miss this and just can't get used to not having it. i know you can press command down, but that requires me to take my hand off the track or magic pad. very annoying, and made even worse by the fact that the feature they replaced it with is completely useless in it's redundancy. 4 swipe and 3 swipe does the same thing - why can't one be mission control or launchpad and the other be snap scroll?

Furthermore, while this is an irritation in browsers/documents it is almost a deal-breaker in Mac Mail. For some reason my Mac Mail often starts a good bit up from the most recent message. i have hundreds of thousands of messages so even if it's up just a small percentage, scrolling isn't an option - and command down doesn't have the same effect in mail. So i have to fine the scroll bar, manually pull it to the bottom every time i open Mail.

Maybe there's something i'm doing wrong or a work around, but this is one of the few times where i've really been frustrated with an OS - especially coming straight from SL to ML. Snow Leopard is, in my opinion, the best OS ever made. I just couldn't justify being 2 updates behind - especially when it would be 3 updates behind very soon.

Here's my workaround…

In Settings—>General,

I set 'Show scroll bars:' to 'When scrolling', you can also set it to 'Always' and also set 'Click in the scroll bar to:' 'Jump to the spot that's clicked'.

When the mouse is in the scroll bar area, you don't need to click and drag the scroll bar, only click on the top or bottom of the scroll bar, or anywhere for that matter, and the window will jump to that spot.

that's not a bad idea at all! Thanks mate, i'll go do that now.
I know some people were all upset that they made the scroll bars vanish but that doesn't really bother me. It does add a bit of an annoyance when doing the scrolling in Mail that I whinged about in the OP but it certainly gives the window a cleaner look. But I would rather have functionality.

What about using BetterTouchTool to respond to the CMD + Up or Down by doing the gesture you want?

I do exactly this, BTT is a great app for expanding the usefulness of the trackpad.
