I guess we will all just have to side load it now. I believe this will hurt amazon's app store as new android users will probably be nervous about side loading.

You're half right, IMHO. It will hurt Amazon, but it's because no one cares enough to side load amazon apps.

I was referring to side loading to get to their amazon app store and free app of the day they have.

Amazon app store needed sideloading since its release. It has been only integrated since 3 months ago but this outcome was very clear because Play policies

Shows how much I pay attention. I've just always used the side-loaded app store from Amazon, never realized they tried adding it to the main app.

Yet, they allow Kindle when they have Play Books or Amazon Cloud Player when they have Play Music.
