After a failed refurb store purchase and a nice conversation with a apple rep they agreed to send me an identical new iMac for the same cost that i paid for the refurb only problem being they have no stock and it needs to be built and shipped. Also maybe a sign ?

Spec is the full ulti 2.9 i7 if that helps.

I have searched the entire internet for signs on a release this week(nothing better to do:) ),but it seems like thats not going to happen:(:(:(

apple release dates are not flying around the net. Once a product is announced, it's announced. You won't find anything. I found a article today (from january) saying that the new iMacs will be released in March - yes not february as everyone was hoping, but march. So I still hope they'll release it on thursday

Not to be a pessimist, but what makes you think that?

When I check the amazon store, I see "Hurry only 3 left in stock" on one model and 10 left in stock on another. Interesting to say the least.

Store is U.S.

has anyone seen amazon show low stock before a refresh? i agree that this is interesting to note, but it's also possible that this happens now and then for no other reason than an influx of orders before amazon receives a new shipment from apple.

Really want to believe

I really, really want to believe that new iMacs are coming out this week. I've been waiting for a month and find myself watching youtube videos of i7s with SSDs booting up just to get enough of a fix to keep from buying one.

It should be noted, however, that Amazon says they have "more on the way" for both of these that are low stock. I haven't ever paid too much attention to the iMac refresh, as I've never been in the market for one until now, but it seems like in the past most of the other Macs hit long ship times on the actual Apple store prior to updates. All of the iMac options on the Apple website ship within 24 hours.

Again, I really, really hope I'm wrong on this but my gut tells me it's not going to happen this week.

Apple won't stop selling older models until a new one is out that's common sense. They'll probably sell plenty more this week to people who have no idea a new imac is coming.

I'm not aware of anyone on this thread stating or otherwise implying that Apple was going to stop selling their older models prior to the new models being released.

When a refresh is imminent you will probably see longer ship times on the Apple web site for the following reasons: Apple is famous for keeping minimal inventory of their products on hand. This minimizes the risk of having to sell obsolete product at lower prices and ultimately lower profits. For example they are said to keep as little as five days worth of inventory on hand during the holidays. When a product refresh is in the works they stop stocking inventory and begin making product on a build to order basis. Hence the prolonged ship time.

Again, I hope the low inventories at Amazon are a sign that a new iMac is coming this week because I really want to buy one. i just don't see it as being particularly likely. There were similar rumors in february stemming from low iMac inventory at BestBuy that didn't pan out either.

Hahahahahahaha!

Hilarious and true.
