I'm running the public beta of El Capitan on a late 2008 MacBook Pro with only one issue so far.
After the last update (4th) as soon as I go to Amazon.com on either Safari or Firefox my computer freezes up or becomes so unresponsive it's unusable. I've restarted every time so I don't know if I could wait out whatever is going on. It does appear that the area below the search bar where products cycle through is breaking up and may be the culprit.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Have you tried verifying the Disk through Disk Utility? Any errors there?

Is the hard-drive OK? Anything other than Passed means you need to replace your HDD. You can verify it by downloading SMART Utility here.

Also when you restart, is the option 'Reopen windows when logging back in' disabled?

Speak with you soon.

The hard drive is OK.
I do have "reopen windows" disabled so all is fine when the computer restarts.
At least fine until I try to shop on amazon.com again. And I can start at a deeper level and amazon.com is fine.
It's only the front page that causes the freeze.

same happened to me during weekend. must have been something with the amazon site (the front page scrolling visuals were all garbled) as everything is all right now.

Thanks!
I tried again and it seems fine for me too.
Can't imagine what it was.
