Not in stock yet and since in a lot more states Amazon has to add sales tax, you might as well order from Apple.

I earn $$ with Amazon Visa, but I get the education discount thru Apple so I'll order through Apple. But if I didn't and wanted a stock config, I'd probably order through Amazon.

Just posting FYI.

lot's of places have it for sale which you can avoid sales tax with..

http://www.macconnection.com for instance..

macmall has a few custom configurations listed:

i'd like to buy from tekserve: (as in, i definitely vouch for them)
http://www.tekserve.com/store/macs/mac-pro.html

..but i'd rather not pay 9% nyc sales tax on a $5000 item.. i assume you can avoid sales tax if ordering from tekserve and live outside of new york.. they have a lot of custom configs listed

Do any of these sites charge at time of order, instead of time of shipping? Looking to purchase a nMP for the tax writeoff, but ordering from Apple would not peg the credit card payment until February.

Not true on Amazon anymore, unfortunately.

well, it depends on where exactly the order is coming from and where it's being shipped to.. 3 of the last 5 purchases i've made through amazon have been tax free..

with the mac pro via amazon, i'd be charged sales tax but if i lived in cleveland, i wouldn't:

i doubt it.. i think that might even be illegal for a company to do

Amazon must charge tax now if they have a fulfillment center in your state, and if your order is being fulfilled by them...same as any online retailer. Amazon's marketplace, however, includes many sellers other than Amazon...so it's possible that if you order something "from Amazon" that it would be fulfilled by one of their outside vendors, which does not have a physical presence in your state....tax free.

Not sure how it'd be illegal. It's just paying upfront instead of waiting for the ship date. Though unethical if that policy wasn't stated clearly. I should've just bought the bullet when I had a chance to get one of the December ship-date units, but I've been waiting to see if Apple would release a Logic Pro update to take advantage of OpenCL. Wouldn't want to buy the low-end graphics cards and then find out I should've gotten the faster ones.

CC companies won't allow it to happen. Plus, what if they charged you now, and it doesn't actually ship for two more months. You could get stuck paying interest on something you don't even have....for two months or more.

Just put in an order for the $2999 base model, then decided it was a bad idea if I planned on using it (intended for display/business purposes). Now A 6core/D500 is on order.
