Excellent, I was watching for the base model to drop!

Thanks for the tip, I just placed my order :D

Here's a lame question
I bought the 799 version at the Apple store and paid $850 w tax
Can I buy this one from Amazon and 'return' it, unopened, to Apple to end up saving $80 on the deal?

Not likely as your receipt form the Apple Store is likely to have the serial number on it.

You would have to return the one you bought at the Apple store back there within 14 days and order the cheaper one from Amazon. This is assuming the serial number is on the receipt.

I just used Amazon chat and got my Mac Mini price adjusted $794 to $769. Thanks OP on the price drop. Also Amazon purchases are great since there is no sales tax here.

Purchased the $799.99 model this evening at the apple store. They price matched the amazon one at $769.99. Tried for the $100 Mac App store credit being a "student", however the offer is only for Mac Air and Macbook Pro I'm pretty sure so they just took off $50 from the $799.99...

Now coming from a PC I need to figure out how to get my iPhone to transfer everything seamlessly over. Probably going to post in the iPhone forum because I'm clueless, haha.

They've also lowered the price of the Mini "server" model to 974.99.

You have to put it into the shopping cart to actually see the price...

Base was $584.99 for a while today, back down to $569.99 so I hit it with overnight prime.

Since when does the Apple Store price match stuff?

Yeah, you never know when Amazon pricing will change. It can move around all day, especially on a hot item. I can't see it going lower than $569, considering it's an Apple product.

If you referring the standard version with an i5/i7, Radeon discrete GPU and 7200RPM 750MB HD it's only available as build to order on Apple's online site.

That's not exactly true. It's not available at Amazon, but it is available from some other online retailers, e.g., MacConnection.

Not over the next 2-4 weeks at least.

Mac connection had the 2010 base for $100 off last Nov. Wonder if the 2011 will ever get discounted that much?

That's not exactly true either as they don't offer the 7200RPM 750GB HD or 256GB SSD as options only the i7 CPU and 8GB RAM.
