Amazon's price is now down to 1699 on the basic Air. I wonder why they are dropping their price some...

forgot to mention it's after a $50 rebate. however, you can get the mba brand new on ebay for around 1500
That's kinda weird that someone has 19 new-in-box $1799 MBA's that you can "Buy It Now" for only $1500 + $35 shipping (from Singapore to the US).

Wonder off of whose truck they fell?

well you have to be careful of who you buy from, but if you check the completed listings, a lot of them are going for around 1500 shipped. i saw one go for as low as 1300. i managed to get mine for 1500 + 20 full insurance shipped overnight.

I bought my SSD version for $2700 off of ebay.

That saved me more than $650 after taxes. Not everybody on eBay is legit though. I'd be a little hesitant buying it outside the country.

Were they really new in box - never opened. I'm just hesitant to buy that high priced of an item off eBay with so many scammers out there.

yes it was brand new and sealed in the original plastic. like everything else, you have to do your research and make sure the seller is legit.

Yes, Brand New sealed. I met the guy locally and picked it up. It ended up being a perfect MBA too! No heat issues, warping, scabies or whatever else has been reported!

maybe they'll be updated at wwdc?

I"m waiting to buy mine after WWDC. If that tablet comes out, I'm going to be really really tempted. But, I'll be getting a new 2nd gen iPhone soon, so a MBA should go well with it.

150-200 bucks buys a lot of piece of mind. :D
totally agree...i'd rather buy from the apple store and know i'm getting the real deal, legit and with warranty/service.

but a deal's a deal, and I don't fault anyone for saving a few bucks if the deal is on the up and up.

Better to get the Amazon deal. Have even better return policy than apple and save $100.

Fry's Electronics (In Dallas at least, maybe at other locations too) have a sale going today only where if you buy a MacBook Air you get the Apple external SuperDrive and a 3rd party Bluetooth mouse thrown in for no additional charge.
