I bought my MBP from Amazon and it has the infamous whine and high-pitching ringing that some of the other support forums are talking about... I sent mine into Apple in order to correct the issues, but according to other posts I've read, Apple is supposedly NOT going to fix whinning issue, claiming that it's "within spec." They are, however, going to fix the high-pitch ringing.
That being said, I think my only option is to return the unit to Amazon, however, I cannot tell from Amazon's website whether or not I'll be charged a restocking fee (they are not very clear in their return policy when it comes to returning a defective item). Obviously, I could just exchange it for a new one, however, I do not want to receive another defective unit...
So my question is this - Will I be charged a restocking fee if I return a defective item?
Also, I already know about the many work-arounds for the whinning issue (i.e., download mirror widget, run Photo Both, install QuietMBP, etc.). While these are viable solutions, it's not the right answer after paying $2350 for a laptop - not to mention, each solutions consumes valuable battery life.
