Amazon finally gave me a shipping date of this Monday for my 11 inch, 128gb.

Called Best Buy, they have a few, but you need to call with the model number on hand, because I think it's hidden in their system. Regardless, the 11inch 128 option was only 1139.95. With CA tax it still didn't beat my Amazon pre-order, so I kept it. But, for others this might be your cheapest option, certainly in a retail store.

Just so you know-

(Amazon) Mine too, says shipping today, arriving Monday. Woohoo. Returning the one to Apple once the Amazon one comes, so I save the $140 by using Amazon here in CA :)

Woooohooo! So exciting I am so glad they were able to get them quick within my 14 day apple return window :)

Oh wow, yours shipped today? They told me mine wouldn't ship TILL Monday, but they offered to upgrade me to overnight for free. (I'm a prime member so it woulda only been 3.99 extra) So, it looks like I'll get it Tuesday.

Was sooo tempted to get it at Best Buy though, woulda been nice to play with during the weekend.

Just go to the apple store and buy it, then set it up, use it over the weekend, make a time machine backup and return it to apple (no restocking fee anymore) when you get it from Amazon. That's what I'm planning. I had mine shipped from apple and got it yesterday and will send it back to apple when amazon delivers, hehe

How is that in the least bit shady? I ordered it from Apple, they shipped, I received it. Then 2 days later I found it from a competitor (Amazon) for a net price of $144 less, so of course I'm going to return and buy it. I was reasonable as I called Apple, told them I'd found it cheaper from one of their authorized sellers, and they said they don't match prices. Unfortunately that's a business decision Apple makes, and it ultimately cost them my sale through their direct website. It's not shady to be a smart consumer.

That's a pretty good idea actually, other than the hassel of having to mess with a return.

Yeah, I just put them on my credit card so no cash out of my pocket anyhow, lol. Apple puts themselves into it when they want margin over customer satisfaction. Well that margin will cost them sometimes, like this situation.
