I say aye aye!!

$499 = £308 going by todays exchange rate...
+17.5% VAT = £53.90

So total will be £361.90.

However, going by that method, the actual pricing for the most basic $999 MacBook, we should have it in the UK for £619 + VAT (£108.32) = £727.32. Although it retails here for £816, which is £88.68 MORE.

£88.68 is about 12.2% of the calculated £727.32. So if we add the same 12% to the calculated price of the iPad (£361.90), which is £43.42, which therefore equals £405.32.

And Apple will probably round this down to £399.

Apologies for my very sad tendencies, but you can now pretty much guarantee it's coming here for £399 or thereabouts now. :)

Far better maths and consideration than i even suggested to attempt.
£399 would be tickety-boo.

Nice maths. I hope you're correct - I am preparing myself for it to be £449, then I might be pleasantly surprised. Then of course, I'll fritter the 'saving' away on accessories and/or the higher capacity model

I read an article in the Guardian today which said that Apple themselves have stated that they will not announce the UK prices until it starts shipping in 58 days ;)
