I notice that AMCs great new zombie series "The Walking Dead" is only available via purchase from iTunes. How easy is this to view via the ATV2?

Has anyone tried?

Purchase it in iTunes, use home sharing to stream it to the AppleTV.

Pretty easy if you ask me.

In theory, yes I know, but some folks were reporting issues playing purchased content via iTunes on their ATV2 (since it's a rental device via iTunes).

Have you done it?

Yes, it works great. If you're referring to the dropped frames once the buffer is full, this does occur, but not frequently enough to cause me discomfort -- and I'm sure this will be resolved in the next software update.

I read yesterday that it just got picked up for a 2nd season.

I hope so! I can't even recall the last time there was a decent horror based tv show that lasted for more then a few episodes. Has anyone read the graphic
Novels Of the walking dead?

Walking Dead is available for free on AMC's website, as are ABC shows. Is there any advantage to purchasing TV shows like these on ATV when you can watch them online for free?

If you buy it in iTunes, you'll be able to watch it long after the shows have been removed from the websites. The networks don't keep the shows available to watch online indefinitely. You also won't need an internet connection to watch them on any iOS device you own.

It's really no different than if you buy the DVD/Bluray season set in the stores, except that you own them quicker after air date.

(And please don't turn this into a "you don't own it because it's DRM'd" thread.)

Virtually every show out there can be watched online for free from their respective websites. It's just whether you'd rather sit in front of your computer or in your living room.

Or you could hook your computer up to your TV and watch it in your living room.

Yes. Currently the versions available on AMC are SD only.

No HD there. I've only found HD downloads available on iTunes.

Where do you see this? Can't you only watch the first episode on AMCs site?

And yes, the show was picked up for a 2nd season! This season only has 6 episodes, next is 12/13!
